December Love: Snail Mail

Ahh...The near extinct snail mail. The written word. So personal, tangible and so old fashioned (?) It's such a long way away from hitting the 'send' button on your computer but oh so much nicer to receive! The decision on the card, the proper and neat handwriting (sans abbreviated slang eg. LOL, LMAO, ROFL - you get my drift), the stamp, the postage, the effort. It's one of my most favourite parts of Christmas. So much nicer than an email don't you think?

Let's Celebrate!

Let's Celebrate! Because:
A: It's Friday
B: It's Friday
C: It's smokin' hot here (In Australia anyway)
D: Tis' the Season (well it's really close)
& E: You know you really want too especially after seeing this mouth watering, thirst quenching post!

Well I am off to make some white choc, hazel nut & coconut truffles and also some rum balls for a Christmas party I am attending over the weekend...
Hope you have a great weekend!

Today I...

........ am decorating the house for Christmas! Is it too early? Nah, never too early for Christmas decorating, especially with a child in the house. But I must ask am I a mean momma for not letting my daughter help me? Well I did technically let her help me but whatever decorations she put up I had to quickly re-do them without her noticing otherwise I would've had all the decorations on the one branch. Cute. But I could'nt cope with that.

Thou Shalt Not Covet!

"Thou Shalt Not Covet!" Wise words from a wise source....but why o why Lord can't I have one of these? Preferably an Hermes one so I can be just like Olivia Palermo from The City? (My current pop culture addiction). Lately I have found myself obsessing over round trays to put on my coffee table, and since deep down I know that no little elf or Santa will be tossing one into my Santa sack come Christmas this year I will have to settle with this daggy one from Ikea and paint it....Reality bites. I think I prefer to covet. Forgive me Father.

Eurosummer

Ahh what I wouldn't give for a EuroSummer! *sigh*. I am trying to make up for it by purchasing a nice big, bright umbrella for my Australian Summer. The Europeans seem to be the most stylish when it comes to bright beach umbrellas, however Suboo do a mighty good job as well. Now I just can't quite decide between the Belize, Amalfi or the Santa Monica. Which one do you think?

Handmade with Love...

The beautiful view of "Balmoral Plantation"

The Shed draped in fabric..

Well the wedding was wonderful and we had a great time as expected. The wedding and reception was held at the couples macadamia farm "Balmoral Plantation". With such beautiful wide and green sweeping views of the valley below it was the perfect backdrop for the ceremony. Later the reception was held further down in the valley, in the shed. Yes the shed! I was so impressed - it really is amazing what you can do with 2km of white fabric! And speaking of fabric I wanted to show you my dress that I made for the wedding. It is kind of special to me because it is actually (one of) the tablecloths we used for our very own wedding and it was a cinch to sew, even for me! I folded over the top, dyed it my favourite colour (coral/apricot) and added a brooch for a better style and fit. So what do you think?

Aaah white....Am absolutely loving that kitchen above...I can imagine myself wrapping all of my Christmas pressies up at that lovingly large kitchen bench....and that pool house is just gorgeous. (If that is what it is?).... Well I am off to do some Chrissy shopping since my little poppet is in "Kindy" today so I may actually achieve something today!

Deshabille Sleepwear Summer 09'

I love Deshabille sleepwear. Their catalogues which you can download here are always styled so pretty....So here are a few of my faves from the Summer 09 range. It's quite the tradition in our family to make a pair of Christmas pyjamas to wear for the month of December leading up to Christmas, so this year I will post what I have come up with!

Joyeux Noel!

Oh dear! This year I fear I am a little behind the 'eight' ball in regards to my Christmas decor. Normally at this time of the year my theme is sorted and the wrapping paper decided on. So I seem to be biting back panic as I type this and think I better get started soon and this post over at Beach Vintage is what spurred me on to really get me thinking about Christmas decor. Because it really just won't do to have an half-assed dressed Christmas tree. Tis' the season...So how will you be decorating your abode this Christmas?

Things that sparkle....

I am baaaack.....please forgive me my temporary leave of absence, however last week I was just flat out. These renovations seem to be taking all of my time up - how dare they take me away from my blog! But how glad I am of the progress so far. I have finally got used to smelly men being around the place (apart from my husband that is), however the first couple of days it was a bit, shall we say awkward. To be completely honest I didn't know the etiquette with the builders. Should I be available to make sure the job was getting done to my specifications and be there should any questions arise? Or should I just rack off and get out of their way? Do I offer them refreshments? Show them where the lavatory is, or perhaps offer to roll their cigarettes and provide them with an ashtray? (OK maybe not that. I did tactfully provide them with an ashtray though) but I actually found my self running through AM's (The House That AM Built) archives to see what the general rules are besides some common sense. So I have been offering coffee and cold drinks, however I do draw the line at Anzac biscuits. (AM must be such a fabulous woman and I am sure every builders delight!). So today my post is dedicated to shiny, clean surfaces....as I don't seem to have any in my household at present....

Paula Joye's Hampton Inspired Home

I really loved Paula Joye's home (editor of Madison magazine) featured in the Australian House & Garden magazine last month. Of course it is no surprise that it is fab-u-lous, she is after all an fashion magazine editor and always looks polished and stylish herself. I am particularly loving the palm tree prints in her bedroom and might start hunting some down for my very own bedroom...Oh and of course her little girls bedrooms are adorable also. I am loving the use of the palm tree fronds used throughout her house. I always strip our garden for fronds and place them throughout my home. Lush, Green foliage can sometimes look just as good as pretty blooms and are a cheap alternative, and I think, offer a point of difference from flowers and create a whole different look for a change.

PS. The weekend away was fantastic. As anticipated my stomach is so sore from laughing so hard...

Kickin' it poolside...

Ladies I hate to gloat (but what the heck I don't get to do this very often!) because this weekend this is where you will find me, kickin' it poolside at the lovely Peppers Resort with the girls. (The kind you belly-laugh your ass off with) and no boys or children allowed! We have booked a room with our very own plunge pool. The cocktail list is confirmed, ipod dock charged and the chocolate fondue fountain will be a flowin' because really there can be no room for a diet on a girlie break!

I hope you enjoy your weekend too!

Teacups and Roses Florist

...and my love for pink & navy lives on....This is seriously THE most beautiful florist I have ever been to. Situated in Murwillumbah on the far north coast of NSW lies a lovely old fashioned shop where flowers abound. Trinkets and treasures delight and awaken the senses and I only wish I could of taken photos of the interior for you, but alas it was not open this day! Ahh..better luck next time. Now I want to be a florist!
Note: Please forgive me for my terrible photography skills!

Ikat

Yes, yes - I have jumped on the Ikat bandwagon! I actually bought these cushions a few months ago and do still love them. Apparently I am going through a blue/turquoise phase at the moment. I will let you know how long it lasts.....as I seem to have a tendency to change my mind. A lot.

Have a great weekend!

Are'nt these images fantastic? This is Sarah Greens 60's inspired apartment. Sarah has her own Paddington store selling accessories and vintage jewellery, hence the fabulous jewellery shot! It seems Orange is cool.....

So tell me my friends, when did orange become so cool? Fashion and decor seem to run hand in hand and smelt together, but It seems what's cool on the runway is also deemed cool in your home. I thoroughly disagree in this case! (Seeing as I only just painted over my burnt orange walls with white and have never been happier.) The only orange in my home I am coveting is maybe a little Hermes box or perhaps a bottle of Veuve....but these pictures seem to do it justice.... in moderation... Would you have orange in your home?

Thrifty Chic - DIY Fabric Bangles

Coral, Purple & Cream fabric covered bangles

Ladies here's some "money for jam" or "bang for your buck." DIY fabric covered bangles. If your a fabric fiend like me then chances are you have loads of it around the house. So all you will need for this project is your old bangles, hot glue gun, scissors and selected fabric.

Cut fabric into strips of 35ml or bigger. (Depending on the size/width of your bangles you are covering). Double the fabric strip lengthwise, then iron. Tightly start winding the fabric in a diagonal direction around the bangle being sure to cover the raw edge of the material with each loop you do. Finish off with a dab of hot glue to secure fabric in its place and cut off excess fabric. Voila! A new set of up-cycled bangles!

Well it's time for a mini -break for myself, and for my little family. We are off to picturesque Yamba. (Voted by Australian Traveller as No 1 best town in Australia) for the long weekend and then some..I can't hardly wait to enjoy every single minute of it! I will be back posting on Wednesday. Until then...x

(On a side note, I was so excited to find that Lonny Mag had gone live last night, and boy I so wasn't disappointed. The content and layout was fantastic. I am loving the feature on the Beach House! I won't post about it as I know everyone and their blog (he he) will be! Be sure to check it out, if you haven't seen it yet!)

Blogaholics / Blogville

Hello, my name is Erin and I am a blogaholic..... I think I am following over 100 blogs at the present time. (Give or take a few - slight exaggeration). I simply cannot keep up with my google reading list and thus find myself shirking from my wifely/mothering /Parental/housekeeping duties. (Yes the dishes are still in the sink).
I check my updates often and regularly, and find myself scrolling through new blogs, to which I find new blogs on the blog I am looking at's blogroll. Confused? Same here. Is anyone else having this similar conundrum? I haven't been to the library in over 3 weeks because quite frankly I don't need any more reading material. I constantly feel like I have had 3 red bulls and am always over stimulated from the abundance of great reads, great ideas, and great posts - on great blogs. And I have now mentioned the word 'blog' nine times on this blog post. But you know what? Its an addiction that I don't want to stop!

Note. I will be back to my 'sane' posting on Wednesday.

Inspired by the impossibly beautiful love print above, as seen on This is Glamorous via Decor8, I thought I would make one (and a few variations) for my sisters birthday. And she loved them! I have to keep shopping around for a more elaborate frame though like the one above. On another note we have the builder coming around today to do final measurements and go over the details for our renovation/extension. I am soo excited! Finally it is all happening!!

A touch of the exotic..

I need a holiday. Preferably somewhere luxuriously exotic like the photos above. Somewhere where I can swing in a hammock, fall asleep in dappled sunlight, watch curtains blow in the breeze, drink cocktails & float in the ocean....*sigh*. My husband and I are going on a mini-break next weekend to stay in a waterfront cabin at Yamba. I am looking forward to it immensely but after seeing these images, it just quite doesn't cut it does it?

Yasmins Party

Poem from my favourite little golden book.

Party Bags for the kids...

I made a Lace doily paper garland As seen on 7 year wedding.

Of course the Martha Stewart pom poms made an appearance.

I used our wedding tablecloths......

Coloured Sugar for the cake

The rainbow cake. Ruined due to the scorching day..Oh well the kids still loved it!

Well finally here are a few, terrible pictures of Yasmin's third birthday party! Can you believe my camera stopped working on that very day? Typical! So luckily I got some random photos from other peoples cameras.
We were blessed with beautiful weather this year and the theme for my Yasmin's party was two pinks "Blush & Bashful". (Steel Magnolia style). For she won't go any other way but pink. So on to the cake: Yasmin had been carrying around my Woman's Weekly kids cake book for 4 months prior. Seriously. And all she wanted was a rainbow cake. Well I rallied and cajoled, persuaded and bribed her to pick any other cake but the rainbow cake, but alas, her decision was made and rainbow cake it was. It looked terrible. The sun got to it, the sugar went lumpy, the clouds blew off, and then we had to deal with 10+ kids high on over 1kilo of coloured sugar.
It was a great day and we kept it only small this year. With a simple bbq and salads between the two trees in the park by the beach. I wonder what next year will bring?

Blue and White Again..

Three images we have all seen around before ladies.....But three images too pretty not to post about on my blog! What is it with blue & white that attracts all of us females? That bedroom is simply beyond my wildest dreams, the kitchen with it's (is it) wallpapered (?) ceiling is so pretty, and that blue and white tiled fireplace is like none I have ever seen... I trust everyone had a great weekend? We had Yasmin's birthday party yesterday so tomorrow I will be back with some not-so-great pictures of the event!

Happy Birthday Yasmin!

It's my daughter Yasmin's 3rd birthday today. So she knew she would be getting a present this morning, but I didn't anticipate that she would be up at the crack of dawn, or I for that matter would be out with bird's nest hair, in my mismatching sloppy-ass, pj's on the road trying to teach her to ride her new, pink (everything has to be pink!) bike. I am flat out trying to get a revolution out of her - she keeps trying to go backwards thus hitting the breaks all the time! My back is so sore from bending over, I have thoroughly embarrassed myself and my early-bird neighbours in my unkempt state, have no COFFEE in my household and it is only 7.30! Grrr
Now I am off to bake some cupcakes for the birthday girl!

A Story Book Fairy Tale: Sweetie Pie Restaurant New York

Here are some lovely images to whet your whimsy....I Happened upon Sweetie Pie Restaurant in New York in the latest issue (8) of LMNOP. (to download click here) I would just love to take my Yasmin here for desert - she is only three but know she would love it (she appreciates her decor just like her mummy!). You see it is geared towards children and adults alike, and boasts bright pink couches, mirrored walls and ceilings, marble floors, offers a great kids menu ,and get this, an 18-scoop Sweetie Pie Sundae! How lovely!! Did I also mention that you can eat in an ornate birdcage? How lovely to see a restaurant that delivers for the adults (Apparently they turn out a mean Manhatten at the cocktail bar) as well as for the children. Click on the link to view more lovely pictures.

DIY: Ikea Hacker

If you haven't been over to the Ikea Hacker blog yet then I suggest you do! There are just so many creative & talented people out in this world..... One of my most favourite Ikea hacks would have to be this one. Kari bought four Ikea base kitchen cabinets, assembled and bolted them together, added feet, an MDF top (covered with fabric), and slab of glass to go on top. That is just amazing! I decided to paint Yasmin's table and chairs white and paint the top of the table and top of the chairs with black chalkboard paint. (Dang I just love chalkboard paint!).

Loving: Knotted Curtains.... and Ellen Degeneres

How beautiful are these pictures of Ellen & Portia's wedding? I have been scrounging round the net for more images of their big day. I just love this wedding! Well what I have seen of it anyway.....I'm sooo hungry for more photos! The styling, those chairs! And don't the knotted curtains just look fabulous? I'm a huge fan of a knotted curtain. (Pity I don't have any curtains in my house). They look so simple, yet so elegant and beautiful....

Note: I would marry Ellen if I could! No. Seriously I would. It's a pity I am not a lesbian though, so I may have to settle for being her BFF.

The Grainery

Ceramic Porcelain Stools

Looking down from top floor.

There are literally thousands of porcelain lamp bases.

I think this bedhead would like great painted white for a little girls room!

I don't know if I should be telling you this secret but when your on to a good thing it's best to share with your friends no? The Grainery is Murwillumbah's best kept secret. Well It's not really a secret seeing as people come from far and wide to visit this magnificent treasure trove! (They have people who travel from Brisbane by the busload). You will surely be sooo overwhelmed when you go inside and realise that you will need about 3 hours just to SCAN the goods. Michael the owner is impossibly eccentric, straightforward and gloriously witty and if your good looking he will give you a discount! Ha! I found myself flirting with him shamelessly (Please note he is over 60) to get a good price for those magnificent ceramic stools above. So next time your in Murwillumbah be sure to drop in! It is seriously well worth it!

I have been a bad little blogger haven't I? But I promise I will be back more regularly than last week! No excuses!

I know I have already posted about Collette Dinnigan's Paddington pad here before, however I thought I would show some more pictures, some of which are from different angles and have been styled differently.....I am loving the bougainvillea, those sliding white stackable doors in the first image and I seriously nearly wet my panties upon sighting those shiny, black lacquered shutters....

Scents of Spring

My first Gardenia's of the season have bloomed (my favourite), along with my Bird of Paradise & my Star Jasmine has just exploded into full flower & scent as well... I just love this time of year. It reminds me of the warmer weather to come! I especially love the smell of wattle as well, as we have a lot of wattle bushes around our neighbourhood here. As you can see I placed my beloved gardenias in my teacup on my bedside table so every morning and night I get to wake up to that lovely scent....

Yasmin's Dresser - DIY Style

I thought I would show you my daughters "boudoir" as I like to call it....You see we went to a friends house, who's daughter had a barbie makeup dresser and chair - needless to say my daughter promptly sat her butt on the stool, started applying makeup and didn't leave it all day. So I decided to make her a nice one....

My husband actually made this dresser himself whilst in high school (and we were actually going to throw it out!) so I simply sanded it, painted it distressed white, got some lovely flower door knobs off eBay and stealed my sisters venetian mirror she wasn't using. Now Yasmin has a nice place to sit and apply her lipstick all day long!

I would just love some outdoor furniture (for our future deck which will hopefully be built by the Summertime) with black and white stripe soft coverings, as per the fabulous picture above. We are currently experiencing some problems with Council at present with our development application (no suprises there) and I just want to through caution to the wind and start building already!

The Quintessential Beachouse

This house is on my running route and my absolute favourite. If you can believe it, this house looking from the street side is quite unassuming and dare I say it, quite "un-grand". Then you look at it from the beach side (pictures shown) and nearly have a heart attack at how beautiful it is....very clever indeed. Go here for more photo's. This one however will set you back a cool 6.2 mil (Aussie $$$).

Found! Cape Cod Pictorial Map c 1950's - 60's

My sister over at The Art Of Indecision mentioned she found the source to that gorgeous Cape Cod Pictorial map I posted about a little while ago. A little googling later and Bingo! (How good is google!) The Cape Cod Pictorial map is designed by Clara Katrina Chase, circa 1950's - 1960's. It comes in a small size $300 or large $450(usd). Go here for more information or to purchase, and yes they do ship internationally!

Blue Crush - Patterned Lounges

Sorry for my absence last week or should I say lack of presence(?) from my blog last week. To be frank, I have no excuse just a lot of stuff that needed to be done around the family home. Today I am loving patterned lounges, particularly in the seaside blue hues. Isn't it funny how much your taste changes? (Mind, mine seems to change daily!) I think I would get sick of a patterned lounge, but then again I don't think I would get sick of it if I only saw it on the weekends in my holiday home! Dream on....

Renovation Time!

Iam so excited! Finally our DA Application to renovate our house has been submitted to council and we are just waiting on an approval. We are going to enclose our patio area to make our (non-existent) loungeroom larger, complete with built in louvered benchseat! I have always wanted one of these and where it will go, the sun will shine on that spot all day long. I plan to incorporate storage in the bench seat so my little toddler can put her toys in it.... Oh dear now I need to decide on cabinetry! Ladies I need ideas!

Thank you my friend....

My dear sweet best friend picked up this lovely silk dressing robe for me whilst in Thailand.....The colours of the peacock are just so pretty and I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can swan around in this robe...it's so nice to have such a great friend! Click on image for closer look.

Buttery Walls

When I was a little girl I wanted a house with golden, buttery-coloured walls with lots of arched windows and lots of light streaming in! (Perhaps this is when my decorating obsession kicked in?) to me they seem so homely and comforting. The over sized windows and doors in this house are just amazing and I just love that lounge room! You can check out more of these lovely images on the House and Garden website.

Pretty Petals & my sister's vase....

I bought these delightful pale pink roses from Aldi today, and what a steal @ $5.00! Just goes to show that even in this recession we can still have some pretty blooms in our homes! Now, that absolutely gorgeous black and white stripe deco vase is my sisters. She bought it from the Old & Gold Festival in Brunswick Heads (which unfortunately I couldn't attend) from a very reluctant seller. I wish it were mine! Well at least she lets me borrow it...Is'nt that what sisters are for?

Donna Hay Kids Magazine - Special Party Issue

Damn I love Donna Hay! I have three of her cookbooks and they are just soooo pretttty! Note to self: I must visit her store next trip to Sydney because her store looks utterly amazing! OK to the point; I picked up the Donna Hay Kids Magazine - Special Party Issue yesterday (personally I don't know how anyone could walk past it and not buy it, that cover was practically winking at me in all of its pastel gloriousness, as it jumped off the shelf and flew into my loving arms) and boy oh boy is it a delight! Choc-full of great recipes, ideas and styling for your little munchkins birthday party. It has certainly given me lots of ideas for my little Yasmin's 3rd birthday party coming up in September....

Book Shelf

I spent most of my day yesterday in the library (yes I am a library fanatic), hence the post on books. They inject so much colour into a room and add layers, and layers of interest. Whether they be sitting on a coffee table, perched on a shelf, on the floor, or in a colorcoded bookcase they are such a terrific decorating tool and I personally think you can tell a lot about people by the books they read......or just by how pretty they are! So tell me what is your favourite book?

Hope you have a lovely weekend!

The Village Markets - Gold Coast

Well hello lovely ladies! I hope everyone had a great weekend! I certainly did, feeling rejuvenated from being down at the in-laws...Sunday saw us a fantastically sunny winters day on the coast! A perfect day for coffee, reading the papers, perusing the markets, and topped off with a long, lazy (liquid) Sunday lunch......... I have been wanting to go to the Village Markets ,(which are fantastic) for a while now. They are held on the 1st Sunday of each month, and are a community market for up and coming fashion designers, artists, craft makers and collectors of vintage fashion and accessories. What a great idea! Be sure to check them out if your ever in the area and you can also check their blog here for more pictures and information.

Summer Lovin'

Well ladies I am off to the in-laws for a couple of nights to smell the roses and won't be back til Friday.....I am however super excited to note that today & tomorrow is supposed to be a balmy 26 degrees and I will certainly be heading to the beach for a much needed tan (naughty, naughty I know!). I just had to post this picture above from the Victoria's Secret website (A fantastic dieting resource: It will make you re-knew your gym membership and dull your appetite so you will never want to eat again - well for five minutes at least, but be warned, it does come with a side dish of depression)......
Oh how I yearn for the summertime, and pastel colours, and that body of course........

Coastal Cool

Gorgeous deck looking out toward the guest bungalow...

So cute....Love the blue and white stripe awnings.

I just love an old beach shack! Is there nothing better? This cute, coastal cottage is situated in the picturesque town of Wooli, has 2 bedrooms, a sleepout and a guest bungalow all with private access to the beach......second mortgage anyone??? You can find more photos here and check out another gorgeous beachfront cottage here. On another note, hopefully my lotto numbers will come up tonight for the cool 90 million - oh would'nt it be nice??

Aerin Lauder's East Hampton Home

I love Aerin! No - not because we share the same name (hers is spelt way cooler though) but because she is just so gorgeous and her style is so effortless! I'm just dizzy in love with her East Hampton house and the fact that they plant white flowers, roses, peonies and hydrangeas in the gardens! I bet her house smells just as amazing as it looks.....

Have a great weekend ladies and see you all on Monday!

Printdolls "Afternoon Delight" Luncheon

Gorgeous table setting......

Old doors were used as the table..Fantastic Idea!

Simple yet chic..

loving that greenery and all mismatched chairs..

Printdolls International Print

Printdolls Palm Beach Print

The ladies from the fabulous brand Printdolls held an "afternoon delight" luncheon for their family and friends for the silly season last year. I have had these images in my entertaining file (captured by Nick Scott Photography) for a long time now as I just love the table settings....Old rustic doors were used for the table and mismatched chairs for the guests. I particularly love the use of greenery they have used, I am quite fond of using palm fronds and luscious, exotic leaves. I think they look fab and are a great alternative to flowers if you want to save your johnny cash. I love the Printdolls international print which you can buy here. Another little something to add to my ever growing "wish list"!

Never Judge a book by it's cover!

(*) is substituted for the word Porn. (Note: First/last & only time this word will ever be used on my blog.)

Whilst perusing blog, Luphia Loves (which I just simply adore) I came across these gorgeous photos of: The Girl Who Tamed The Tiger and promptly fell in love with that book on the first image. (Yes I will buy a book for it's cover only!) S.T.U.N.N.I.N.G! So a little googling later and I find out that this book, Agent Provocateur - Secrets is a collection of erotic fiction/*. Wowzer!! Now ladies I don't know about you but If I am going to read ahem *, not that I do - and I can't stress this enough, (and I can't believe I am writing this on my blog), but it has got to be of the very pretty kind to be sitting on my bedside table.... and that my friends, is a seriously pretty book of *.

Dreaming of sunlight

It's so wet and miserable here today, yesterday, and last week for that matter, and as much as I love the rain - its starting to get me down....(I have so much washing that is wet and so much more to do!) So I thought I could live vicariously through this girl....I want to be lying around basking in the sun, on the beach, in sequins...

Beautiful Bentwood...

I am quite partial to the bentwood chair. In fact I have a bentwood rocker that I picked up for a song at the Aussie Junk Shop which I intend to do up.....(One of these days, God willing!).
I especially love the first image with the two Bentwood chairs next to the dresser, so classic and so simple yet so lovely....I think I would have a really good sleep in that bed...zzz

Vintage Bally Poster

I spied this original vintage poster over at GalerieMontmarte. "*A clever design from Gauthier incorporating a Bally shoe as part of the woman's body. The piece has a dual quality in that it seems more detailed from a distance, and abstract up close." *Words from website. Can you imagine this poster in an ornate, gold frame? Swoon...Ladies this piece would have to go in my "I'm single and out partying every weeknight house...."

Mirror Madness

I really, really want this mirror! I want it so much it hurts.....One day it will be mine - I can feel it.... I first spied this mirror in a favourite clothing shop of mine and since then have been hooked. I. want. it. bad! So I was very excited to see in my copy of Madison Living that Christina Re also has one in her dining room. She has nice taste! The lovely lady in the shop said she thinks they are from Sydney Wholesalers? Do any of you Aussie bloggers out there know who this company is? I have googled but alas to no avail! Please put me out of my misery...

Hallelujah!

Ta-da! I finally got my arse into gear and organised a pretty workspace for myself......It needed to be three things: pretty, functional and pretty. You get the idea! Somewhere where I could sit, blog, play bills and get my life organised! (Because lets face it the other room I showed you was just too atrocious and no before you ask I haven't got to that room yet!) The gorgeous antique table was actually my mothers (that she gave me on a whim and now wishes she hadn't). It hasn't had handles for like ever so I went to Bunnings and found these gorgeous, gold, shell-like, semi-circle handles that I just adore! Two drawers: One for my diary and the other for all of my desk paraphernalia. (pencils/pens/etc). Ikea magazine holders, an unused dining chair and cushion from my lounge, a rattan basket to store paperwork, and hey presto makeover magic - a lovely little workstation. Now of course I didn't buy anything at all, just collected/transferred unused things from around the house. I can't see myself sitting on that dining chair for long though so I think my next purchase will definitely be a nice office chair......So you like?

Tears In Heaven

You might remember my post here when I blogged about my pregnancy. Well I received a lovely email from a follower asking me when my baby is due, if I am going to find out the sex, and how I am going to decorate the nursery..........So with a heavy heart I thought today will be the day that I impart the very sad news that unfortunately I lost my baby 2 weeks ago.

I can't even begin to describe the absolute shock and numbness I felt when my sonographer advised me that their was a problem with my pregnancy, my baby, that it had not grown and that she could not find a heartbeat. I do remember though, through the tears and immediate haze of grief that she was the most beautiful and caring lady, and was having a hard time herself trying not to cry. Upon leaving I clutched at her arm and said "Thank you - (sniffle, sniffle, sniffle) you have been so nice to me". And I will never forget her.

To be completely honest I never thought this would happen to me. The thought never, ever crossed my mind. I had had an uneventful first pregnancy which had produced the most beautiful and healthy little girl so why should I even worry about this one? The weeks were inked into my diary, the due date set @ 01/12/09 and of course my mind was tick, tick, ticking in regards to decorating the nursery. (Nb: Navy and Turquoise for boy / Navy and Pink for girl). I can say though I am a little ashamed at myself for not having had more empathy towards friends I had known who had miscarried. Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined the pain they would be feeling and my husband certainly summed it up when he said/cried "Erin, how can you love someone so much that you have never met before?". (cue breakdown). I seriously don't know.

But fortunately for me I am one of those annoyingly optimistic people, you know the one, "my glass is always half full and all that", and if anything good has come of this it is the fact that I have realised that I have the most wonderful family and friends. Seriously. My house still looks like a florist, I have had meals on wheels at my door, wine/tears/hugs and words of wisdom from friends, and a wonderful girlfriend got me a buddy box (The quirky alternative to flowers) which I am proud to say contained all chocolate which I ate in a day and you know what? It really made me feel better.

So this ones for you little babe, even though I will never see, hear or hold you here on earth I truly believe I will see you one day in heaven and until then I hope your angels take care of you until your mummy gets there.......

Thanks for attending my pity party ladies. This has made me feel much better.

xoxo

Nellies Notty Necklace

Now I have mentioned before how talented my big sis is (and how jealous I am of her extensive sewing abilities when mine are so limited). I just absolutely love these children's necklace's that she has hand made from assorted vintage and new fabrics. They are just gorgeous on little girls and my little daughter certainly adores hers!...I am a real sucker when it comes to children's' accessories and find it extremely refreshing when I happen upon children's items that aren't mass produced, don't hurt my eyes, and don't have Dora on them. And it appears I am not the only one! We were in Byron on Monday for the long weekend and I can't tell you how many comments we got on it. (You can buy them here for only $10.95(!) and see more of her other creations over at her blog.

I Like a nice tall boy...

Look past that magnificent bookcase and through to the next room. I have never noticed this tall boy before...
Beautiful in an entrance way.......

Upcycled: Painted, and with varying handles.....

Old Skool Vintage....

The tall boy: Clearly the unsung hero. I can't believe how I have overlooked the tall boy/dresser/chest of drawers! Before my love affair with blogs I just thought they were an annoying piece of furniture to be placed in the bedroom for practicality and for all of us with non-existent and small wardrobes. (And a place to put all of our smalls and mismatched socks.) Oh how wrong was I?! These pictures have certainly inspired me to get creative and upcycle my tallboy with a lick of paint/varnish, a little decoration, and maybe some new hardware......
Now lastly not least a big, huge, thank you to Amanda over at Swish & Swanky. I was 'uber-flattered', and floored to read on Fridays post that she had mentioned my blog....and thus have'nt been able to wipe the grin off of my face since.

Serious Eye candy. Vintage Desk & a place for everything......

Sass & Bide Office - Creative Space.....

My future closet....ha!

Damn tidy...

Home Office over at The Happy Home

Serious Inspiration - Mood Board over at Dianne Bergeron

Gorgeous space......

Simple, sophisticated & elegant.....

Jen's Home Office over at Made By Girl

You know nothing gets me going more than an inspiring creative office space! Whether it be a start up business @ home, professional office space, a sewing/craft room, a young artists loft, or a stay-at-home mummy's nook for household running/arts/craft/homework/designated breakdown corner etc... I get so inspired when I see where others work & create and truly believe that an uncluttered work space (and home) is an uncluttered mind (yes I watch too much Oprah!)

This is really embarrassing and I can't believe I am going to show you this but maybe, just maybe this truly embarrassing space below (yes my office/desk) is why I always don't pay my bills on time, forget appointments and am always late...Now please note that I am only showing you this space because this means you will be after an after photo and this means that I HAVE to get this space organised.....

It's really bad isn't it?

But at least I have something pretty to look at....This is my mood board....

So If you want please make me feel better and send through a picture of your unorganised space if you would like to air your dirty laundry to all and sundry.

Helena Christensen's Bohemian Abode

Dang - I swear Helena Christensen is Gods gift to Men and Woman. Not only is she still absolutely stunning and approaching 41, but she is such a style icon, mother, photographer and her New York loft just makes me go weak at the knees! I really wish I paid more attention in French class in high school so I could read the article which is featured in French Vogue by the way.

Alba Vintage

Remember this gorgeous "Whitehouse" Situated in Far North Coast NSW back in the March 2008 issue of Country Style Magazine? Well I just loved it and was shocked to find out that this gorgeous, beautiful house, with all of those wonderful curios was situated in my own home town of Lismore! So I was even more excited to read the article and find out that the owner, Simon Robinson has a shop in Lismore called Alba Vintage. I was in Lismore on Wednesday and promised myself I would not leave until I had found his shop!

Whimsy, White grill - a pretty way of protecting your shop....

Fabulous Frames...

Vintage cane walking sticks and umbrellas......

Vintage Buttons galore!

Simon's shop is fantabulous! So if your ever in the area be sure to check it out! I could of spent all day in there and I didn't even take any photos of the vintage cutlery, fabrics, mik glass, porcelains or the plethora of jewellery in there........the mind just boggles......

The Best Smelling Candle In The World!!

Don't you just love candles?? It's my sister-in-laws birthday today, so we decided to buy her this gorgeous Glass House Candle. The scent is absolutely delicious and reminds me of Summer all year round. (And the packaging is just fabulous as well not to mention the glass jar you are left with once it runs out). It's called Montego Bay and its "Coconut & Lime" scent will having you dreaming of cocktails in the sunny Maldives...I have one at home in my entry way and everyone always comments on the smell. Now I really want another one for my bedroom...mmmm! I hope she likes it as much as me!
